FAQ - Answers to some of your questions

Here are a few questions that you may have.

Why use a Tulip as the symbol of the community?
The Tulip is recognised as the flower that represents unconditional love.
Where do you get your information?
Every year the UK Government publishes a wealth of information which becomes part of the National Archives. All Police attended road incidents are recorded and we extrapolate information from this complex data set. We also rely on submissions from the general public and local news items that report these tragic incidents.
Do you charge a fee for a Tulip to be included in the map?
No. Basic information on the fatality is free of any charge and with family consent the victims name can be also be displayed if not already in the public domain.
What is a Tulip Memorial and how would I do it?
Tulips icons on the map can be personalised with a Memorial graphic dedicated to a loved one you have lost. We will work with you to create this graphic from your supplied photo's and text, and the infographic can then be visible direct from the represented Tulip icon on the map.
How can I get a Tulip added to the Map?
Send us whatever details you have on the fatal accident including the location and the date (if known) through our Contact Page. You can if you wish include details of your relationship or association with the victim(s). We'll do all we can to find a record of the incident and respectfully mark the location on the map
What's your privacy policy?
Out of respect for the sensitive nature of this site and respect for the victims and their families, this site will be Ad Free and we do not collect any data from your browser in the way of tracking cookies etc;
We do not collect email addresses and will only use any provided for the purposes of responding to your enquiry.
In most cases the information we have is already in the public domain, but under no circumstances would we pass on any information we have to any other party.
Why is there no direct search facility on the TulipMap?
As an alternative to a direct location or name search, our road fatalities mapping project deliberately encourages the user to physically pan and scan the online map to search by area. Only by using this method is the full scale of fatal statistics represented as more Tulips are revealed during exploration of the map.
